External Exam

So the end is near and your exam is fast approaching.  Don't stress I have set up this page with some of the information you will need to pass it. You will need to do some extra revision and go over practice exam papers on food packaging to prepare you for the assessment.

On this page I have added three past exam papers.  I have also added examples of Achieved, Merit and Excellence answers so you can look at the different levels. There are two blank exam papers to practice with. These two assessments are blank with no answers for you to print off and practice answering. I always find this helps.

Key areas you need to know

We have done lots of work on this. All of the answers should be in our workbooks that we worked on at the beginning of this term so all you need to do is refer to this. You may need to do a little research into food allergies and intolerances though so you are aware of the signs and symptoms of these.

These are the key areas you must have knowledge on:

  • Packaging information - how to read the label eg. storage instructions, nutritional information, possible allergens, serving sizes etc. Click on this link - Reading Labels Made Easy

  • Promotional features - what is on the packaging that is going to make the consumer want to buy it! eg. colourful packaging, cartoon picture, bold bright writing etc.

  • Nutritional features - eg. gluten free, low in fat, low in sugar etc.

  • Macronutrients and their influence on physical well-being. Click on the link for extra help - Information on Key Nutrients and the Healthy Plate Model
