Week 1 & 2 

This weeks focus is TO PRACTISE, PRACTISE, PRACTISE!  We made butter icing and learnt how to make a piping bag.  I challenge you to practise at home in order for you to get better at making cupcakes and also to improve your icing and piping technique. By the end of this week you should be able to:

    1. Make a piping bag

    2. Make a batch of cupcakes and be able to figure out what went wrong or right

    3. Make a perfect butter icing

    4. Pipe butter icing onto a cupcake

 

Homework for Week 1 & 2

1. Work on the "Researching Cupcakes" poster work.  It needs to be presented as an A3 poster and will be put on display in the classroom. 

2. Practise making a piping bag 

3. Make at least one more batch of cupcakes at home

Week 3

 This week is all about trialing your chosen cupcake recipes and also making important decisions around your design brief. By the end of this week you should have:

1. Baked a trial batch of cupcakes

2. Make a start on your E-portfoili 

• Make a start on your design brief

• Complete an evaluation of your first batch of cupcakes

             

                 Remember to complete your planning sheet!

 

Week 4

 This week is all about trialling your chosen cupcakes again and making final decisions of your design brief. By the end of this week you should have:

1. Completed two evaluations of two different batches of cupcakes

2. Baked a second batch of cupcakes

3. Finished your Design Brief

4. Come up with Specifications

5. Work on Q1-2 of your assessment 

6. Remember to complete your planning sheet!

 

Week 5

This week we will be working on our assessments, completing questions 1-4. We will also attempt another batch of cupcakes. By the end of this week you should have:

1. Completed questions 1-3

2. Have started question 4

4. Make another batch of cupcakes

 

Week 5 & 6

You should have completed:

1. Questions 1-6

2. Cooked a trial batch of cupcakes

3. Evaluated your cupcakes

4. Your portfolios should be up to date as follows:

            1. Title page

            2. Design Brief

            3. Brief

            4. Recipe

            5. Evaluation for each trial batch you have made. This should include.

                       a). Carried out testing techniques for EACH specification

                       b). Commented on whether your cupcake met EACH specification

                       c). Included pictures

                       d). Star chart
